ADA ORIGINS
The ADA, or The Americans with Disabilities Act, is a civil rights law that established the standards for accessible design. The idea is to remove any obstacles that would hinder access to any services and goods in the public area. The main organization representing accessibility applied to websites is the W3C – WAI, Web Accessibility Initiative.
WCAG COMPLIANCE
The WAI has put together thorough guidelines, known as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, or WCAG for short. These guidelines are based on the POUR principles—perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust—and have a 3-tier grading system—level A, AA, and AAA. Our aim is to meet AA standards as a baseline.
